With the BoligVærkstedet project, EFFEKT, Enemærke & Petersen, MOE and VELUX are building seven houses that will showcase how to build quality home with a very low CO2 emission and improved indoor climate to inspire and test in practice how building construction can actively address climate challenges.
In the coming months, the seven units will be built in Jernbanebyen in Copenhagen – an ex-railway area under development that forms the perfect setting for an experiment like the BoligVærkstedet, which seeks to push boundaries and generate new ideas.
The prototypes – which will have the lowest CO2 footprint in Denmark to date – will include housing, an exhibition area, an event pavilion etc.are designed to be disassembled and reused, so that the life of the buildings goes beyond next year's exhibition.
This afternoon, Technology and Environment Mayor Line Barfod from Copenhagen Municipality, together with Sinus Lynge (EFFEKT), Jakob Mariager (MOE), Peder Johansen ( Enemærke & Petersen); Tina Mayn, (VELUX) kick-started the first drill of the screw-foundations of the seven buildings, expressing hope to inspire the construction sector:
"BoligVærkstedet is an exciting and innovative project that I look forward to following in its development. It is obvious that the seven experimental homes will be built here in Jernbanebyen, which is to be a new (district) neighborhood with an extraordinary focus on sustainability, without cars and with more green. Next year, Copenhagen will be in the spotlight as the World's Capital of Architecture 2023. Here, our ability to take the lead when it comes to sustainable and innovative solutions must be at the forefront, and this project will contribute to that" Line Barfod said.
